"The Role of Dongguan: Large-scale Art Exhibition of Images and Artefacts" presents the huge changes in Dongguan residents' lives since the reform and opening up. Through delicate artistic displays, the exhibition recalls Dongguan's progress over 40 years using more than 2,000 artefacts and pictures.

The 40 years of China's reform and opening up is the most magnificent period of China's historical development. During this period, Dongguan, originally an agricultural county, rapidly transformed into a prosperous industrial city through emancipating the mind, grabbing opportunities, and daring to try new things first. 

From the "world factory" to a sci-tech hub, Dongguan is always chasing its own dream. "The Role of Dongguan" is a significant text for examining the Chinese economy and worldwide industrial patterns. Jianyuzhou, as an industrialized pioneer at the beginning of Dongguan's reform and opening up, will provide a great many artistic samples for studying Dongguan's social changes.
