Venue: Shilong Museum

An exhibition of selected Kwon-glazed porcelain wares dating back to the Qing Dynasty opened on February 4th at the Shilong Museum in Dongguan, allowing the public to see the beautiful porcelain.

Kwon-glazed porcelain, traditional porcelain with a history of more than 300 years, is one of the wonderful works of art in China's ceramic field. Its color is fresh and bright, tender and brilliant. The decoration on the artifacts covers everything from home and abroad, ancient and modern. It is also one of the most important cultural presents for international exchanges in the Qing Dynasty. In 2008, its firing technology was selected into the second batch of the national intangible cultural heritage list.

To further promote the culture and art of Kwon-glazed porcelain, Dongguan Museum and Shilong Museum jointly held the exhibition. The exhibition selects 52 pieces (sets) of Kwon-glazed porcelain from the Qing Dynasty collected by Dongguan Museum, which are divided into two parts: "spring flowers blooming on fine china" and "gorgeous porcelain amazing the west". Its topics include "What is Kwon-glazed porcelain", "Origin and development", "Pigments, types, and patterns". Visitors can not only appreciate a wide and diverse variety of Kwon-glazed porcelain but also see the wisdom and creativity of Guangzhou craftsmen during the Qing Dynasty. The exhibits reflect the prosperity of foreign trade in Guangzhou in that period, which had a great impact on the integration of Chinese and Western cultures.

During the Spring Festival, the Shilong Museum will open as usual (closed on Mondays). The exhibition will run until March 7th.
