On 2nd June, a three-member delegation led by Tegegne Getahun (Acting Consul General of Ethiopia in Guangzhou) visited Dongguan. Director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Dongguan met with the foreign guests. Each side engaged in detailed exchange on strengthening cooperation in economic trade, culture and tourism.

Dongguan and Ethiopia have maintained long-term and stable friendly cooperative relations. The Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa is also a friendly exchange city of Dongguan. In March this year, the Dongguan Municipal Government and Huajian Group donated a batch of anti-epidemic supplies to Ethiopia to combat the COVID-19 epidemic. It is hoped that Ethiopia will overcome the epidemic as soon as possible.

The Acting Consul General said that in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, the Chinese government sent a large amount of anti-epidemic materials and medical aid teams to African countries, including Ethiopia. Ethiopian citizens expressed heartfelt thanks. At present, both places continue to work hard to overcome the pandemic. He hoped that this visit would make preliminary preparations for promoting cooperation between each sides after the end of the outbreak. Ethiopia is very willing to strengthen cooperation with Dongguan in the fields of economic trade and tourism.

The two sides also reached a preliminary consensus on jointly hosting an Ethiopian tourism photo exhibition and a business promotion activity in Dongguan. The delegation also visited the Dongguan Travel Agency Industry Association, where they conducted in-depth exchanges on tourism promotion and the development of tourism routes.
