At the 2020 National Race Walking Championships, Wang Kaihua took the top honors in 1 hour, 20 minutes and 49 seconds during the Men's 20km Race Walk Final, adding one more gold medal for Guangdong team. Wang trained at Dongguan Sports School before being sent to the provincial team.

The Finals were held in Tai'an, Shandong on September 19. Wang's top-level opponents include Olympic champion Chen Ding of London, Olympic runner-up Cai Zelin of Rio, and Xu Hao, the champion of the 7th CISM Military World Games. However, Wang outraced his opponents from the very beginning and maintained his lead. He clocked 1:20:49 to claim the gold medal. Cai snatched silver in 1:22:03 while Chen took bronze in 1:22:12.

In recent years, the up-and-coming track and field athletes of Dongguan, such as Wang Kaihua, Wu Ruiting and Zeng Jianhang, have started to win competitions. At the National Track and Field Championships last week, Wu won the men's triple jump title with 16.90. Zeng finished second with a time of 13.54 in men's 110 meters hurdles event.

Wang Kaihua, Wu Ruiting, Zeng Jianhang have shown strong competitive strength in their respective sports. According to the present performance, there is strong hope that Dongguan track and field athletes are gearing up well for the Tokyo Olympics and are striving to have a good performance on a larger stage.
