The press conference on Dongguan COVID-19 prevention and control was held on June 18 to brief the media on the newly-reported COVID-19 case.

In the early morning of June 18, Nancheng District in Dongguan City found a suspected positive case of COVID-19 infection. After receiving the report, the epidemic prevention and control commands at the municipal and district levels immediately activated the emergency response mechanism, conducted epidemiological investigations, close contact tracking management and terminal disinfection of relevant places in a standardized and meticulous manner. 

The case is a 30-year-old female surnamed Li. She lives in Baiyue Shangcheng Residential Area, Nancheng District, Dongguan City (南城街道百悦尚城小区). At 7pm on June 17, she drove to the fever clinic of Dongguan Kanghua Hospital due to fever. Her initial nucleic acid test for COVID-19 was positive on the early morning of June 18, and the city's Center for Disease Control later confirmed the positive result. After expert consultation, she was confirmed as a positive COVID-19 case (mild one). She has been transferred to a designated hospital for isolation and treatment, and her current situation is stable.

Mass testing underway in 5 towns, districts

Currently, five towns and districts in the city are conducting a mass nucleic acid testing for all residents from June 18 to the morning of June 19. The five towns and districts include Guancheng District, Dongcheng District, Wanjiang District, Nancheng District and Machong Town.

Residents who go to testing sites should bring their ID cards or other valid documents, arrive at the designated places according to the set schedule in an orderly manner, and follow the staff's instruction. In addition, when testing, please show your“Yue He Suan (粤核酸)”code, wear masks throughout the process, maintain social distancing of at least one meter and minimize conversation with others in a queue. 

Those with yellow Yuekang health code (GHC code) or who have symptoms like fever or cough should go to the nearest fever clinic immediately and do not visit nucleic acid sampling sites for the moment. Those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 within 24 hours should receive the nucleic acid test 24 hours after the vaccination.

The public should continue to take proper personal protection measures, wear masks, wash hands regularly, and use serving chopsticks. Residents should also reduce unnecessary travelling and avoid gatherings. At the same time, do not trust, spread or make rumors.
