The "Shenjiang No. 1" shield machine has been manufactured successfully in Changsha and will soon be used in the Pearl River Estuary Tunnel of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway.

On August 23, a large-diameter shield machine rolled off the assembly line in Changsha. Its cutter head is painted with a "Dancing Lion", which foregrounds the characteristics of Guangdong's regional culture. The shield machine has an excavation diameter of 13.42 meters, a total length of 130 meters, and a total weight of 3,800 tons. It will participate in constructing the Pearl River Estuary Tunnel of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway, the deepest undersea tunnel in the country.

The main line of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is 116.12 kilometres in length, running through the centre of the Greater Bay Area. It is a strategic line of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" coastal high-speed railway network. The Pearl River Estuary Tunnel, a key project of the railway, is located at the estuary of the Pearl River between Dongguan and Guangzhou. The line spans 13.69 kilometres, where the length of the underwater section is about 11.05 kilometres, with a designed speed of 200 kilometres per hour.

The main line of the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway leads from the planned Xili Station (Shenzhen) and passes through 5 cities, including Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen. It goes through the Pearl River Estuary in the form of a tunnel. The entire line has 7 stations: Xili Station (excluding), Shenzhen Airport Station, Dongguan Binhaiwan Station, Nansha Station, Zhongshan North Station, Henglan Station, Jiangmen Station (inclusive). Xili Station and Shenzhen Airport Station are underground stations, Dongguan Binhaiwan Station, Nansha Station, Zhongshan North Station, and Henglan Station are elevated stations, and Jiangmen Station is a land stand. The railway has a planned construction period of 66 months and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2025.

It is foreseeable that when the Shenzhen-Jiangmen Railway is completed and opened to traffic, Dongguan will enjoy a better transport system and it will be more convenient travel!
