Updates on Phase III of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 project

According to a recently released bidding document for the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 project (from Humen Railway Station to Jiaoyiwan Station), the Phase III construction is planned to start in April 2022 and be completed in March 2027.

The line is expected to stretch 17.3 kilometres and run at a maximum speed of 120 kilometres per hour. All will be underground lines except for the partially elevated laying of the southern section of Humen Railway Station. The underground section of the whole line will be about 16.848km, the elevated section about 0.25km, and the transition section about 0.202km.

It starts at Humen Railway Station, the terminal of Phase I and Phase II, extends southeast along Guantai Road, crosses the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway and the Humen Port branch line and then enters Liansheng Road at Humen Town to the south.

According to the document, the third phase of the Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 project will have eight stations, all of which will be underground stations, including 4 transfer stations.

The 8 stations along the line will be:

● Humen North Station at the intersection of Liansheng Road and Planning Road, Humen Town

● Humen Avenue Station located on the west side of Humen Park, Humen Town

● Humen Jinjie Road Station situated on the west side of Jinjie Road intersection, Humen Town

●Humen Guangming Road Station on the southern side of Guangming Road Intersection, Humen Town

●The line heads south, then crosses the Humen Overpass of Yanjiang Expressway and enters Binhaiwan Bay Area. There will be the Binhaiwan Station, via which passengers may transfer to the Shenzhen-Maoming High-Speed Rail;

●Hong Kong-Macao Terminal Station on the south side of the Binhai Avenue entrance near the Hong Kong-Macao Ferry Terminal;

●Jiaoyiwan West Station on the west side of the intersection of planned Binhai Avenue and Xinghai Road;

●Jiaoyiwan Station, the terminal station at the junction of Haixin Road. Passengers may transfer to the first phase of Dongguan Line 3 and the planned Shenzhen Metro Line 20.
