Air-raid sirens will sound across the whole city of Dongguan this Saturday (Sept.18), from 10:40 am to 11:00 am.

The sirens will last 20 minutes and be divided into three phases.

Phase 1: pre-alerts from 10:40 am to 10:43 am, featuring a repeated 36-second siren with 24-second pauses in between.

Phase 2: air-raid alerts from 10:50 am to 10:53 am, featuring a repeated 6-second siren with 6-second pauses in between.

Phase 3: a single 3-minute siren from 10:57 am to 11:00 am, announcing that the alerts are finishing.

The drill aims to enhance the general public's awareness of national air defence and test the city's air-raid siren alert system. All residents are advised to continue their normal schedule and life during the drill. 

This Saturday also marks this year's National Defense Education Day, which falls on the third Saturday of each September.
