Li Xi

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Saturday said it has appointed Li Xi as secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, replacing Hu Chunhua.

Li will no longer serve as secretary of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee. He is also a member of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Li, born in Gansu Province in 1956, joined the CPC in 1982. He has a bachelor’s degree in Chinese literature and an MBA.

He was deputy Party chief of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu Province, from 1999 to 2001 and became secretary general of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPC in 2004. Later that year, he took the post of secretary general of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the CPC and was Party chief of Yan’an City in the province from 2006 to 2011. He became deputy Party chief of Shanghai in 2013 and Party chief of Liaoning Province in 2015.

Li Qiang has been appointed as secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC, replacing Han Zheng, it was announced yesterday. Li is also a member of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Li will no longer serve as secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC. He will be replaced by Lou Qinjian, who was formerly Party chief of Shaanxi. Hu Heping has replaced Lou as Shaanxi’s Party chief.

On Saturday, Yu Weiguo was appointed as secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, replacing You Quan.

Wang Dongfeng was appointed as secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee, replacing Zhao Kezhi.

Chen Qiufa was appointed as secretary of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee.(SD-Xinhua)
