The Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology has announced that the provinceplans to build more than 60,000 5G base stations this year and will achieve continuous 5G network coverage in developed rural areas of the Pearl River Delta, as well as counties in eastern and western parts of the province. 

From January to June of this year, the number of 5G users in Guangdong grew to 14 million, while more than 41,000 5G base stations were set up, bringing the total number of base stations in Guangdong to 78,389.

Policy guarantees from relevant departments in Guangdong will speed up the introduction of 5G-related talented professionals and the development of the big data and intelligent industry sectors. Some of the measures introduced include the issuance of “Talent Cards” to qualified 5G technicians, and simplified application procedures for talents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
