More Chinese consumers will be willing to pay for smart devices in 2021, according to a report.

In the digital age, smart devices are playing an increasingly prominent role in children's studies and the daily lives of the elderly, said the report from global market research firm International Data Corporation.

In 2021, more than 10 percent of children under the age of 14 will have at least one smart device, and more than 30 percent of adults older than 60 will have at least one smart device, the report said.

An increasing number of Chinese consumers are accepting secondhand smart devices, especially users with less purchasing power, it said.

The elderly and children often receive secondhand smart devices from the other members of their households. Some low-income groups may also purchase secondhand smart devices.

While this certainly promotes the coverage of smart devices in the market, smart device manufacturers are also extending the life cycle of smart devices, according to the report.
