Recent reports from international news outlets have suggested that those wishing to apply for a visa to visit China can do so by being inoculated with non-Chinese vaccines – however, GRTRadio has contacted relevant authorities for their response to the news to understand the current situation further.

According to authorities, "Being inoculated with vaccines does not guarantee a visa to China, and no changes have been made to China's current visa application process in relation to vaccines." In other words, currently, being inoculated with non-Chinese vaccines will not have an impact on the visa application process, while it is also not a requirement for visa applications to China.

In March, Chinese embassies in several countries announced that visa application procedures would be relaxed slightly for those who had been inoculated with Chinese vaccines. As of now, these policies are still in place and have not been altered. As of April 9, Chinese vaccines were undergoing the final assessment stage by the World Health Organization.

Meanwhile, in a notice issued by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United States of America, the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been mentioned. Though proof of vaccination with these jabs can be provided along with visa applications, according to relevant authorities contacted by GRTRadio, the visa application process as announced in March has not been altered.

In regards to quarantine arrangements upon arrival in China, according to official requirements, all arriving passengers, including Chinese and foreign nationals, must comply with quarantine and COVID-19 testing requirements upon their arrival in China according to local policies at their destinations in the country.
