On June 16, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced the suspension of Air China's Johannesburg-Shenzhen flight CA868 after 32 passengers tested positive for COVID-19.

Quota for the above flights shall not be used for other routes. If a flight triggers the circuit breaker mechanism during the period before the suspension begins, future suspension times will accumulate.

The CAAC also requires Air China to provide services, such as passenger comfort, ticket refunds and changes on subsequent flights, in line with the requirement of local embassies or consulates.

Shenzhen reported 13 imported confirmed and 12 imported asymptomatic COVID-19 cases on June 15, all of whom were passengers of flight CA868 which departed from Johannesburg, South Africa and arrived in Shenzhen on June 10, according to Shenzhen Daily report.

All passengers of the flight were quarantined upon entry, and 25 of them tested positive during a routine nucleic acid screening on June 15. After the test results were confirmed by the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the patients were transferred to Shenzhen No.3 People's Hospital for treatment. Currently, all of them are in stable condition.

Among the 13 confirmed cases, seven are diagnosed as mild cases of COVID-19 and six are normal cases. All the nine males and four females are of Chinese nationality. The 12 asymptomatic cases include seven males and two females of Chinese nationality, one male and one female of South African nationality, and one male of Zimbabwean nationality.
