A container ship loaded with auto parts imported from Japan was shipped from Guangzhou's Nansha Port to Huadu Port through the "Greater Bay Area Inter-port Cargo Service" on June 22. The Staff of Dongfeng Nissan, a joint-venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan Motors, picked up the cargo and delivered to the factory as soon as it was unloaded.

It marks the first time that the "Greater Bay Area Inter-port Cargo Service" has been implemented on an import shipment.

Initiated by Guangzhou Customs and Guangzhou Port Group, the "Greater Bay Area Inter-port Cargo Service" was launched in 2020, aiming to facilitate customs clearance. The service integrates operation between ports in the GBA and enables paperless processing and "7×24”"hour rapid customs clearance of import and export goods transferred through Nansha Port.

"Compared with the traditional model of customs clearance, this service requires one-time declaration and inspection while waiving the manual verification process. The imported cargo can be directly shipped from Nansha Port to river terminals of the Pearl River via barge after being unloaded, which effectively shortens the transit time in Nansha by more than one day," said Yang Yuxin, section chief of Dongfeng Nissan.

Thus far, the "Greater Bay Area Inter-port Cargo Service" has been implemented in Guangzhou, Foshan and other ports in Pearl River Delta.

Li Xiaomao, manager of Guangzhou Huadugang Freight Jointly Owned Co., Ltd., said that Huadu District is home to a large number of foreign trade enterprises. "The pandemic hit international logistics and global supply chains this year. Guangzhou Customs paid close attention to the problems and actively communicated with us about our needs. The service was launched in Huadu Port eventually through multiple inspections and studies."
