In celebration of the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations, the "Guangdong Lychee Tasting Event & The Launching Ceremony for the Call Campaign of Art Pieces for the New Dongguan Museum" was held in Penang, Malaysia on July 14. This event marked the beginning of Dongguan Museum's initiative to gather cultural artifacts from around the world for its new wing.

As a prominent overseas Chinese hometown in Lingnan, Dongguan has expatriates spread across more than 50 countries and regions. Malaysia, home to nearly 100,000 Dongguan expatriates, plays a significant role in this global network, with increasing exchanges in various fields between Dongguan and Malaysia.

The Kwangtung & Tengchow Association in Penang donated the first batch of overseas artifacts, which included a complete set of traditional lion dance equipment and a commemorative book marking the association’s 200th anniversary.
