On July 16, 136 participants of the 2025 Overseas Root-Seeking Journey(Dongguan) embarked on a study tour themed Tech&History. The group comprised 126 overseas Chinese youth from 10 countries and regions, alongside 10 Dongguan  local youth. Their itinerary integrated cutting-edge technology and historical immersion, visiting OPPO Headquarters, YTOT, Taiping Handbag Factory Exhibition Hall, Naval War Museum, and Weiyuan Fortress.

Tech Frontiers

At OPPO's innovation hub, IoT exhibits drew fascination. "Seeing the birthplace of my OnePlus phone feels like uncovering family roots," said Wang Qian, a Greek-Chinese educator. YTOT's production lines impressed Austrian participant Chen Yuchen: "Dongguan's evolution from 'world factory' to 'smart manufacturing hub' redefines my pride in Chinese innovation."

Reform Relics

Those vintage sewing machines in Taiping Handbag Factory Exhibition Hall transported visitors to China's reform era. "These 1980s designs still showcase timeless craftsmanship," noted Australian leader Yang Juan. Local student Wu Siyao bonded with overseas peers over interactive exhibits: "Shared heritage bridges our cultural gaps."

Historical Awakening
3D reconstructions of the Opium War at the Naval War Museum delivered sobering lessons. "Remembering this history is our duty to ancestors," Swiss teacher Qian Guangying told the youth. At Weiyuan Fortress, perched above the Pearl River, Greek educator Wang Qian reflected: "These cannon scars planted seeds of cultural identity that will keep growing long after this 10-day journey."

The camp merges hands-on tech experiences with immersive history, offering global youth a multidimensional perspective on China's developmental narrative.
