On the morning of 12th January, a 5km New Years run was held in Dongguan's Hongmei Township, attracting over 1,800 teenagers. Based on the colour run, the event included innovative elements such as coming-of-age ceremony and handprint pray.

White powder filled the air as contestants threw handfuls at each other while running. It was not the speed in which they competed, but the comical and unique styles of running. "I had no time to escape from the 'attack'. I have been covered by white powder. Before I recovered, another wave of powder was dumpped on my head," said a girl surnamed Weng. The event was as lively as the Water-sprinkling Festival.
