As the spring has begun, the purple and pale yellow blossoms are in full bloom, signaling that it's time for the Mucuna birdwoodiana blossoms festival. From March to April, the blooming flowers will attract streams of visitors to Qingxi Township every spring.
Mucuna is a genus of many different species of climbing vines and shrubs, found in some tropical areas, such as Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and some areas in Guangdong, China. This kind of vine can grow into a huge sprawling tree. Its flowers are pea-like but larger, with distinctive curved petals, which look like sparrows in flight. So that is why the flower is called "Sparrow Flower" in Chinese.
