Located in new urban center of Dongguan, Nancheng is the place where the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government of Dongguan are located. It is the political, economic, cultural and financial center of Dongguan. Nancheng covers 56.6 square kilometers and administers 18 communities, with a registered population of 87,000 together with 140,000 migrant workers. Located between the Guangzhou and Shenzhen economic corridor, Nancheng boasts an advantageous geographic position. Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, Guantai Avenue, Dongguan Avenue and Nancheng Technology Avenue run through the city, and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ring roads cross the entire district. Large landmark urban public facilities include the City Center Plaza, International Conference & Exhibition Center, Conference Building, Yulan Grand Theatre, Museum, Science and Technology Museum, Library and the Youth Activity Center.
In addition, Nancheng has strengthened the protection of its cultural relics and intangible cultural heritage. The Haogang Beiqiu ruins and Shuilian West Mountain Temple have been unearthed. New museums have been built. Duxiang Pavilion, Mr. Zhang’s Shrine and Family Su’s Ancestral Hall have been renovated. It has also constructed the Dongguan Arts Exhibition Center, which set an example for the development of cultural industry in Dongguan, and served as a new cultural symbol of the city. In recent years, Nancheng has been successfully awarded the titles of “Advanced Community for National Urban Sports”, “Advanced County (District) for Cultural Relics Work” and “Nationwide and Education Power District of Guangdong Province”.
