Located in western Dongguan, Wanjiang is the economic corridor of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. The 107 state road and Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway crosses over the area, making Wanjiang an important transportation hub in Pearl River Delta. Wanjiang covers 48.5 square kilometers. Wanjiang was successively honored as the “Advanced Unit for Nationwide Fitness Activities”, “Advanced Basic-level Party Organization of Guangdong Province”, “Town Excellent in Hygiene of Guangdong Province”, “Town of Chinese Folk Arts of Guangdong Province”, “Education Power Town of Guangdong Province”, “Advanced Unit for Public Education of Guangdong Province”, “Civilized Town and Street of Dongguan City”, “Civilized Unit of Guangdong Province”, etc.
Wanjiang has profound cultural heritage and is considered as home to the Dragon Boat, folk arts, painting and calligraphy. Cultural relics under provincial and municipal protection are Jin'aozhou Tower, Lv Dongbin’s Temple, Family He’s Ancestral Hall, Family Hu’s Ancestral Hall, Family Xie’s Ancestral Hall and the Chongguang Society. There are also a number of cultural resources in Wanjiang, including the Wanjiang Culture Service Center Building, Xilong Plaza, Wanjiang Park, Jin’aozhou Theme Park, Dongguan Diet Customs Museum, as well as 46 community culture plazas and the Wanjiang Branch of Dongguan Library.
