Located in northeast Dongguan, Qishi covers 58.29km2 and has a registered population of about 40,000 and a temporary population of more than 80,000. The town’s unique geographical  location sets it in the golden economic corridor of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The transportation network is well developed, and the town is surrounded by the Guangzhou-Huizhou Expressway, Dongguan-Shenzhen Expressway, Changping-Humen Expressway, the proposed Zengcong Expresswa, and Huanguan Expressway, with the Eastern Expressway and Dongjiang Avenue traversing from the south and north. Within the town, Dongping Avenue and Hubin Road serve as the main roads, and together with Qiqiao Road, Baoshi Road and Zhenhua Road form a convenient transportation network.
Qishi is rich in folk custom, such as the “Human Sovereign’s Birthday” which takes place on the 20th of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. During the birthday celebration, the local residents make “big longevity peaches” and set off fire crackers. Additionally, “Wong Tai Sin’s Birthday” is on the 15th to 25th of the seventh month according to the Chinese lunar calendar, “Grass Dragon Dance” in Shangdong  Village during the Mid-autumn Festival and “Fly the Kongming Light” of Humei Village, and “Day for Respecting the Aged” in the whole town (usually in spring or autumn equinox) all contribute to the strong cultural traditions of Qishi.
