Located in northeast Dongguan, Qiaotou is home to the famous “Dongshen Water Supply Project.” The town covers 56 square kilometers and administers 17 villages (communities) with a registered population of 35,000. As the first town where the Dongjiang River flows through Dongguan, Qiaotou has abundant water resources and high water quality. In addition, the town’s favorable investment environment has gained Qiaotou such honorary titles as “The First Top 1,000 Small Towns in Comprehensive Development,” “National Hygiene Town,” “China’s Famous Lotus Town,” “Town of the Chinese Lotus Art Festival,” “Key Town of Guangdong Province,” “Education Power Town of Guangdong Province” and “Tourism Featured Town of Guangdong Province.”
Currently, there are 4 parks in the town, the Eastern Industrial Park Qiaotou Park, Qiaodong Industrial Park, Shimahe Hi-tech Industrial Park and Niupu Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park. There are also more than 1,000 enterprises from home and abroad, which form the town’s modern industrial system supported by electronic information and metal mold and characterized by the coordinated development of color printing packing, advanced manufacturing and the hi-tech industry.
Qiaotou spares no effort to develop itself as famous cultural town, using the lotus flower as a part of its unique brand. Currently, cultural infrastructures in Qiaotou include a variety of cultural facilities, such as Qiaotou Plaza and Lotus Art Sculpture. Furthermore, the town has focused on promoting its tourism industry, winning such honorary titles as “Cultural Construction Advanced Town of Dongguan City,” “Creation Base for Reportage of Dongguan City,” “Tourism Featured Town of Guangdong Province,” “Town of Folk Culture Arts of Guangdong Province,” “Lotus Photography Base of Guangdong Province,” “Town of Lotus Culture Art of Guangdong Province” and “Chinese Lotus Town.”
