The town of Liaobu enjoys exceptional geographical advantages as it is located in the center of the large area composed of main city area, Songshan Lake Science and Technology Industrial Park, Tongsha Ecological Park and Dongguan Ecological Park. Liaobu covers 73 square kilometers, with a population of 413,600, among which the registered population is 86,000. The business in Liaobu has long been flourishing since the old days. The well-known Wan Hong (a local plant growing in Dongguan) is gathered here and distributed to Southeast Asia areas through Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Thus, Liaobu, being one of the four famous markets in Guangdong Province, is known as Wan Hong Market. In 2007, Liaobu “Wan Hong Market” was identified as an intangible culture heritage of Guangdong Province.
Liaobu launched the project featured by Wang Hong culture in 2009, realizing “Ancient Wan Hong Market and Modern Wan Hong City” and promoting the development of culture town.
It is known as “a park, an ancient street, a Wan Hong tree base, a folklore collection, a TV play, an annual cultural and tourism festival a Wang Hong culture exhibition hall, and a Wan Hong products exhibition platform. In 2010, the first Wang Hong market cultural tourism festival and Chinese Agilawood (Guan Hong) culture and Art Fair was successfully held in Liaobu, adding glamour and soft power to the city.
