Connect to Baoan and Futian via Shenzhen Line 20
Furthermore, the Phase III of Dongguan Metro Line 2 will connect with the planned Dongguan Metro Line 10, Line 9, Line 14, Guangzhou Metro Line 22 and Shenzhen Metro Line 20.
It will intersect with the planned Dongguan Line 10 at Humen Avenue Station. It is planned that Dongguan Line 10 will start from Weiyuan Island, Humen, and end at the Shenzhen-Dongguan border in Chang'an Town. The route is roughly east-west, with a total length of 23 kilometers.
The Phase III of Dongguan Metro Line 2 will intersect with the planned Guangzhou Metro Line 22 and Dongguan Metro Line 9 at Binhai Bay Station. The planned Dongguan Line 9 starts from Liaoxia, Houjie Town, passing through Shatian, Humen, and finally arrives at Binhaiwan New Area. It is a north-south line that has a total length of 38 kilometers. At Hong Kong-Macao Ferry Terminal Station, it will be possible to transfer to the planned Line 14, which starts from Humen Station in the north and ends at Binhaiwan New Area in the south, with a total length of 20 kilometers.
Phase III also connects with the planned Dongguan Metro Line 3 and Shenzhen Metro Line 20 at Jiaoyiwan Station. Dongguan Line 3 is planned to start from Binhaiwan New Area, pass through Chang'an, Songshan Lake, Changping, Qiaotou, and finally reach Qishi, with 71 kilometers. Phase I of Shenzhen Metro Line 20 is 8.43 kilometers long, starting from the Airport North Station and ending at the Convention Center Station, with 5 underground stations. It went into operation on December 28, 2021. In the future, Shenzhen Metro Line 20 will be extended to the Binhaiwan New Area in the north and to the Shenzhen-Hong Kong border in Futian District in the south, with a total length of about 50.6 kilometers and 24 stations.
The Phase III of Dongguan Metro Line 2 is to begin construction in September 2022 and is expected to be completed by December 2027.
