On April 7, the executive meeting of the municipal government reviewed and approved the "Dongguan Domestic Waste Classification Management Regulations (Draft)" ("the Regulations"). The Regulations are made clear in domestic waste classification and elaborate on each type of garbage category to further enhance the operability.

Formulate scientific and reasonable classification standards

The Regulations clarify that the domestic waste is divided into the following four categories:

(1) Recyclables refers to household garbage suitable for recycling, including paper, plastic, metal, glass and fabric;

(2) Kitchen waste refers to perishable domestic waste containing organic matter, including household kitchen waste, food waste and other kitchen waste;

(3) Hazardous waste refers to the household hazardous waste listed in the National Catalogue of Hazardous Waste, including lamps, household chemicals and batteries;

(4) Residual waste refers to domestic garbage other than recyclables, kitchen waste and hazardous waste.
