
On March 17, 2022, National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the "Dongguan City Rail Transit Construction Plan Phase II (2013-2019)" and agreed in principle to make appropriate adjustments to the plan, whose planning period is adjusted to 2022-2027.
This adjustment involves phase I of Metro Line 1 and phase I of Metro Line 3, with a total length of 109 kilometers and a total investment of 74.784 billion yuan. Phase III of Line 2 is to be constructed as scheduled. It is expected that the city's urban rail transit's total mileage will reach 164 kilometers when fully completed.
Metro Line 1
Phase I of Metro Line 1 starts from Wanghong Station and ends at Huangjiang Central Station. It is 57.5 kilometers long and passes through 10 towns and districts, including Wangniudun, Hongmei, Daojiao, Wanjiang, Nancheng, Dongcheng, Dalingshan, Songshan Lake, Dalang and Huangjiang. It is a fast channel to connect the Urban Area with the Water-towns Area and the Songshan Lake Area.
Metro Line 3
Phase I of Metro Line 3 starts from Jiaoyiwan Station and ends at Dongguan East Station, with a length of 51.5 kilometers. It runs through 7 towns and districts of Binhaiwan New Area, Chang'an, Dalingshan, Songshan Lake, Dalang, Dongkeng and Changping, realizing the fast connection between Binhaiwan New Area, Songshan Lake and the Eastern Area.
No adjustment for Phase III of Line 2
The Phase III of Metro Line 2 starts from Humen Railway Station and ends at Jiaoyiwan Station, with a length of 17.3 kilometers. It goes through Humen and Binhaiwan New Area. After connecting with Phase I and Phase II of Line 2, it will be a fast track between the urban area and the Binhaiwan New Area.
At present, phase I of Metro Line 1 is under construction, and the Phase III of Line 2 is expected to start construction within this year. In addition, phase I of Metro Line 3 is accelerating the feasibility study of the project and related research work to obtain approval within the year.
