The Annual Conference of 2023 Overseas Chinese Media Cooperation Organization was successfully held in Dongguan last week. Representatives from 73 overseas Chinese media outlets across 31 countries and regions on five continents gathered in Dongguan. Leveraging Dongguan as a window, the media conveyed the beautiful narrative of the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area, covering technological innovation, industrial upgrading, rural revitalization, and intangible cultural heritage protection, reaching audiences worldwide.

With over 70 overseas media and more than 200 media platforms, reporting on Dongguan took the form of articles, videos, and other content in seven languages: Chinese, English, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, and Romanian. The coverage spanned 35 countries and regions, reaching over 40 million readers among overseas Chinese communities globally. The content garnered over 2 million views, with over 600 releases and more than 40 featured pages, showcasing Dongguan's brilliance to the world.

From November 16 to 17, the representatives visited various towns and districts in Dongguan, including Songshan Lake, Binhaiwan Bay Area, Nancheng, Humen, Chang'an, and Liaobu. They explored Dongguan's vibrant tech innovation, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the development of the art and creative industries, and the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. This provided them with an in-depth experience of Dongguan's urban characteristics, where "technological innovation + advanced manufacturing" stands out. They witnessed the highlights and achievements of Dongguan's high-quality development, recognizing the city's remarkable achievements in intelligent manufacturing, industrial transformation, entrepreneurship and innovation, cultural inheritance, and leisure tourism.

Lin Yixian, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of "Voice of Europe and China" in Poland, remarked, "Dongguan is known globally for providing OEM services and is hailed as the 'Manufacturing Hub.' However, when I visited here personally, I discovered that Dongguan has successfully created a series of art and creative products with brand influence through design and technological empowerment. Notably, Dongguan's cultural and creative designs incorporate many elements of traditional Chinese culture, demonstrating cultural confidence. It's delightful to see these new national trend products making their way to the world, allowing people worldwide to better understand and appreciate Chinese culture."

Cheng Ruzhao, from the American China Tribune, expressed that Dongguan's development and production in the field of art toys left a deep impression on him during the visit. With a huge consumer market in the United States, he believes that these trendy products would be well-received. As a Chinese-language media representative, China Tribune will bring relevant information back to the United States to let more people understand the charm of Dongguan's manufacturing. Cheng feels a great sense of responsibility and will strive to promote Guangdong and Dongguan positively.

"This is my first time in Dongguan," said He Ru, President of the Nordic Times. He emphasized the extraordinary significance of nearly a hundred Chinese media outlets holding their annual meeting in Dongguan. "Telling the Chinese story well is our mission and has always been our goal."The Nordic Times is the only fully multimedia and multilingual newspaper in the Nordic region. He said, "In the future, we hope to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with Dongguan and the Greater Bay Area, make efforts to build bridges in terms of cultural exchanges, and recommend Dongguan's manufacturing and intelligence to overseas markets more actively."

Jia Jianjun, founder of Canada's Fengqiao Network, said, "Seeing is believing. This time, I got to understand the long history and culture of Lingnan, as well as its advanced manufacturing industry." He expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by this event."Fengqiao Network is in Toronto, Canada, where there are many Chinese and foreign friends who are interested in Chinese culture, tourism, and related content," Jia said.
