"Welcome Back, Dongguan Marathon! Run Freely!" After a five-year hiatus, the 2024 Dongguan Marathon will return on December 22, with registration starting November 12. This large-scale event marks Dongguan's return to the marathon scene following the 2016 Songshan Lake Marathon and the 2017 and 2019 Asian Marathon Championships held in Dongguan.

The theme for this year's marathon, "Welcome Back, Dongguan International Marathon! Run Freely," reflects Dongguan's passion for and commitment to the sport.

Registration for the 2024 Dongguan International Marathon runs from 3:00 p.m. on November 12 to 6:00 p.m. on November 19. Runners can sign up via the Dongguan International Marathon official website, the "莞马" WeChat account, or the official mini-program. The process includes a pre-registration phase followed by a lottery system to finalize the participant list if applications exceed the entry cap.

The race will kick off on December 22, 2024, at 7:30 a.m., accommodating 20,000 participants across three categories: Full Marathon (6,000 runners), Half Marathon (8,000 runners), and Fun Run (6,000 runners). The goal is to offer a vibrant athletic experience for all participants.

The route begins at the Dongguan Civic Service Center, passing notable city thoroughfares like Dongguan Avenue, Songshan Lake Avenue. Runners will experience Dongguan's unique appeal as a hub for tech innovation. The course is fully equipped with support stations, restrooms, cooling stations, and medical assistance points.
