The Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railway North Extension has officially entered its full-track laying phase, promising a significant leap in travel convenience for Dongguan residents.
As of November 26, the project's track-laying efforts are well underway, with the construction expected to be completed by the end of December. Once operational, the extension will offer swift and seamless travel between Dongguan and destinations across China.
Spanning 6.36 kilometers, the North Extension connects Xiaojinkou Station on the Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity line to Huizhoubei Station, strategically linking with the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway. This stretch includes 5.05 kilometers of underground tracks and 1.31 kilometers of above-ground routes, with a design speed of 200 km/h above ground and 160 km/h underground.
The launch of this project not only marks the near completion of its civil engineering phase but also sets the stage for critical operational readiness processes, including system testing and safety assessments. With 56 pairs of 500-meter-long steel rails being carefully laid, the railway is built to ensure both speed and safety.
Upon completion, the extension will create a seamless travel network. Passengers boarding in Dongguan can quickly reach Huizhoubei Station via the Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity, where they can connect to the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway to travel to major cities such as Guangzhou, Foshan, and Zhaoqing, or even further afield. The route also provides easier access to popular destinations like Ganzhou and Heyuan, simplifying long-distance travel for all.
