On February 27, the Fifth Session of the 17th Dongguan Municipal People's Congress opened, where Mayor Lv Chengxi delivered the annual Government Work Report. The report laid out an optimistic forecast for Dongguan's economic and social development in 2025, building on the city's recent achievements and strategic priorities for the coming year.
In 2024, Dongguan demonstrated its resilience and adaptability, effectively implementing central government policies aimed at boosting economic momentum. Seizing opportunities from national initiatives to support major projects and new industries, Dongguan achieved a regional GDP of 1228.2 billion RMB, growing by 4.6%, and securing the second-highest growth rate in Guangdong Province.
Looking ahead, the city aims for a GDP growth of over 5%, coupled with a 7% growth in industrial output from enterprises above a designated size. Investment in fixed assets will focus on quality and efficiency, while the total retail sales of consumer goods are expected to rise by 5%. In addition, Dongguan's foreign trade will continue to expand, achieving steady volume and improved efficiency. General public budget revenue is projected to increase by 3%, reflecting the city's commitment to fiscal health.
