Dongguan has officially entered its annual "Two Sessions", a pivotal political event where the city's political advisers and lawmakers convene to shape policies for the city's next phase of growth.
The Fourth Session of the Fourteenth Dongguan Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the annual meeting of the city's political advisory body, convened today (February 26) and will last for 2 days.
The meeting for the city's legislature, the Seventeenth Dongguan Municipal People's Congress, is scheduled to convene its fifth session from February 27 to 28, 2025. Both meetings are held at the Dongguan Convention Center, bringing together hundreds of delegates, including lawmakers, industry representatives, academics, and community leaders, to address pressing issues and chart a course for the city's development.
Delegates arrived with proposals reflecting widespread public concerns, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, technological innovation, industrial growth, healthcare, education, environmental protections, and more. As the sessions commenced, participants emphasized their commitment to translating grassroots voices into actionable strategies.
The "Two Sessions" serve as a vital platform for democratic consultation and decision-making in Dongguan. Over the coming days, these representatives will carry out their duties with a sense of profound responsibility and mission. They will meticulously review the reports on key initiatives, deliberate on policies, and ensure that the voices of ordinary citizens are heard.
