The construction of Dongguan Metro Line 1 has reached another key milestone, successful trial runs with powered trains across the entire line. This marks a major step toward its scheduled opening later this year.
On March 30, after over 10 hours of rigorous testing by more than 200 engineers, the hot-slide test for the second section of Line 1 was successfully completed. This means the entire line has now passed its powered train testing phase, paving the way for final commissioning and full operation.
What is a hot-slide test?
A hot-slide test is the first powered trial run of a new metro line. Using live electricity from the overhead contact system, the train self-drives while undergoing key performance evaluations, such as:
Power supply system checks (contact wire elasticity, insulators, track transitions)
Braking and traction tests
Communication, signaling, and electromechanical system validation
Safety and operational stability assessments
