Record high! DG's foreign trade rises 17.4% in first five months

According to Huangpu Customs, Dongguan's imports and exports totaled 615.85 billion yuan in the first five months of the year — the highest on record for this period. The city ranked second in Guangdong Province, with a year-on-year growth of 17.4%, outpacing the provincial average of 13.5%.

Private enterprises were the main engine of growth, with imports and exports reaching 385.68 billion yuan in the first five months — a 25.7% year-on-year increase. They accounted for 62.6% of Dongguan's total trade and contributed approximately 15 percentage points to overall growth. In comparison, foreign-funded enterprises grew by 8.5%, making up 37.2% of total trade.

Dongguan maintained strong trade ties with major markets, recording notable growth with ASEAN (45.5%), Hong Kong (13.8%), Taiwan (20%), the EU (11.5%), Japan (31.8%), and South Korea (17.3%). Trade with India and the UAE rose by 20.1% and 37.6%, respectively, while trade with the five Central Asian countries surged by 59.8%.

Dongguan's major exports continued to grow, with electromechanical products up 15.4% year-on-year in the first five months. Key items such as integrated circuits, electrical equipment, computers and components, and mobile phones rose by 14.8%, 24.6%, 35.5%, and 28%, respectively. Exports of labor-intensive products increased by 2.8%.
