On July 30, over 20 leading multinational buyers from countries including Denmark, Germany, the U.S., Japan, and Australia came to Dongguan for a trade matchmaking event organized under the Canton Fair's Trade for Tomorrow Program. More than 90 high-quality local manufacturers, covering sectors such as toys, furniture, and electronics, participated in this high-efficiency B2B session.
Senior officials from China's Ministry of Commerce, Guangdong Province, and the Dongguan municipal government attended the event, which aimed to bring real purchasing needs directly to suppliers' doors.
According to Sun Bin, Deputy Director of Guangdong's Department of Commerce, Dongguan's foreign trade bases offer strong industrial capabilities, innovation, and support systems. "Dongguan's strength lies in its complete industrial chains and efficient supply systems," said Liu Guangbin, Dongguan Vice Mayor. "From smart tech to custom furniture and creative cultural products, our companies are ready to meet global demand." The event matched global purchasing power with Dongguan's industry leaders, aiming to deliver high-quality, trend-setting products to global consumers.
Participating buyers, such as Japanese retail giant Nitori and Denmark's premium home goods chain F&H Group, came with clear sourcing goals and strong interest in long-term partnerships. Their enthusiasm reflects growing global confidence in Dongguan's manufacturing strength.
"We're looking for long-term partners with strong R&D and stable production. Dongguan impressed us," said JANI DHRUV, head of an Indian trading company, adding he had already visited two plants and was awaiting quotes.
Michael Jensen from F&H Group shared similar sentiments. Known for working closely with Dongguan manufacturers in the home and kitchen sectors, his team came this time to find a producer for a toy IP. "You can find cheaper products elsewhere," he said, "but Dongguan stands out for consistent quality and design capability."
The Dongguan companies present were carefully selected by local commerce authorities based on reputation, competitiveness, and export potential. Among them was Guangdong HAYIDAI Toys, recently listed as a national key cultural export enterprise for 2025–2026. A company representative said the event was a great opportunity to connect with major international players and promote original Chinese designer toys to overseas markets. They've already held promising talks with groups from Hong Kong and Denmark.
After two hours of in-depth talks, several supply agreements were signed on-site. This event not only deepens Dongguan's integration with global supply chains, but also highlights the city's vibrant foreign trade performance, with imports and exports reaching a record-breaking RMB 749.28 billion in the first half of 2025, up 16.5% year-on-year.
Starting with this event, the city has officially launched its "Trade for Tomorrow" Season, with over 30 events scheduled between August and October, ensuring monthly large-scale showcases and weekly targeted business matchings. These initiatives aim to connect more Dongguan businesses with international markets and open new doors for global cooperation.
