A Bilibili video by German content creator Wu Yuxiang, featuring his assembly of the "Pearl-Pink Phoenix Coronet" metal puzzle from Dongguan-based art toy brand Piececool, has gone viral with over 400,000 views.

In the clip, Wu presents the intricate craftsmanship of the metal model, which stands as a vivid testament to Dongguan's booming art toy industry.

"The crown boasts exceptional precision and beauty, integrating rich Chinese cultural elements. Featuring 22 phoenix designs, it’s called the 'Pink·22 Phoenix Crown' and has become a huge hit," said Wu Wenshen, consultant at Dongguan Weishi Culture Technology Co., Ltd. "On Douyin alone, a single color version generated over 10 million yuan in monthly sales, and it’s also highly popular on platforms like Rednote."

Dongguan, already known as a key manufacturing hub for Pop Mart, the maker of the globally popular LABUBU, has become a core player in the global art toy industry. Statistics show that one in every four anime-related products worldwide is produced in Dongguan, while nearly 85% of China’s art toys come from the city.

Having evolved from early foreign OEM orders to cultivating local brands like Piececool, Dongguan now boasts a complete industrial chain with over 4,000 toy producers and nearly 1,500 supporting enterprises, making it China’s largest toy export base.

From the viral success of Wu’s phoenix crown video on Bilibili to the spotlight on global IPs at major expos, Dongguan’s art toys are redefining the meaning of “Made in China.” Looking ahead, Dongguan will continue to strengthen support for the anime and art toy industry, push for higher-quality development, and bring more products that blend craftsmanship and creativity to global markets.
