The 2025 Huaxia Cup Overseas Chinese Basketball Friendship Tournament kicked off on November 2 in Dongguan, setting off a wave of excitement across the "Basketball City."

Hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and organized by Dongguan, the event brings together nearly 100 young overseas Chinese from Panama, Venezuela, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Guangdong. Sixteen teams are battling it out at Dongcheng Sports Park, blending sportsmanship, passion, and unity on the court.

The second day began with a city exploration tour, where participants visited Keyuan Garden, Dongguan Cultural Center, and the Dongguan Exhibition Hall. They immersed themselves in Lingnan architecture, intangible cultural heritage, and the city's basketball legacy, discovering how tradition and innovation thrive side by side in this dynamic city.

Many players were deeply impressed. Panamanian player Liu Yangzheng said, "It's been 17 years since I last came to Dongguan, the transformation is astonishing. It's modern, vibrant, and more beautiful than many cities abroad."

From the New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Yuan Xuchao added, "This trip opened my eyes to Dongguan's technological strength and opportunities for collaboration."
