A new direct container route between Dongguan Port and Thailand's Laem Chabang Port completed its maiden voyage on October 7, when the ZHONG CHUAN HAI YUN docked at Dongguan Port's Phase I terminal. The service provides manufacturers in Dongguan and the Greater Bay Area with a faster and more reliable maritime link to Thailand and the wider ASEAN market.

Jointly launched by Dongguan Port Group and Zhonggu Logistics, the route operates non-stop without calls at intermediate ports or cargo transfers. The journey takes only five days, reducing the risk of delays, unstable cargo space and additional charges commonly associated with transshipment services.

The inaugural sailing carried a full load of Dongguan exports, including hardware, electromechanical equipment, finished paper, plastic products and building materials. With stable cargo capacity, sufficient container supplies and competitive rates, the new route is expected to help local businesses shorten delivery times and reduce logistics costs.

The service also supports two-way trade. It can carry Thai tropical fruit, tapioca starch and recycled pulp to Dongguan, supporting the city's food-processing and paper industries while bringing more Southeast Asian products to the Greater Bay Area. Connections with Dongguan Port's domestic shipping and inland barge networks will further extend the route's reach.
