Hello, my city (by Baidiuk Marharyta, Kryvyi Rih of Ukraine)

The Youth Painting Online Exhibition of Dongguan Sister Cities 2021, hosted by Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau, was unveiled, displaying 95 paintings created by young students of Dongguan and its seven international sister and friendship cities.

As one of the series of theme activities of "Dongguan Sister City Link 2021", this online exhibition aims to serve as a cultural and artistic exchange platform for young people from Dongguan and their counterparts worldwide, promoting friendship and exchanges among younger generations.

A total of 95 excellent works are displayed in the online exhibition, including 75 works selected by seven international sister and friendship cities such as Campinas and Maringa of Brazil, Asan of South Korea, Barcelos of Portugal, Pančevo of Serbia, Kryvyi Rih of Ukraine, and Holon of Israel, as well as 25 from Dongguan teenagers. These works are rich in subject matter, novel in content, and diverse styles, covering different types such as sketches, watercolours, Chinese paintings, and graffiti. Teenagers from other countries showed sister cities' natural scenery and humanistic customs with bold imagination and rich colours, expressing their optimism towards life and yearning for a better future.

The exhibition opened on August 15 and will continue until September 30. The general public can view the exhibition online through sun0769.com and DongguanToday.com to appreciate the "beauty" in the eyes of young people from international sister cities, feel the charm of Eastern and Western painting art, and give a "Like" to their favourite works.

Since 2012, Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau has hosted exchange activities for youth from international sister cities for eight consecutive years. By inviting young friends from sister cities to visit Dongguan, they can experience changes, new style and the charm of Lingnan culture in the city together, which successfully forms a communication platform between local young people and those from international sister cities.

With the continuous spread of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, Dongguan has successively held the virtual salon and online painting exhibition for youth from sister cities, which provided young people with opportunities to introduce their hometown and exchange ideas and establish friendships over the cloud. It also opens up new ways of communication among young people from international sister cities.
