Today Fernando and his friend Jakub came to Nanshe village, an ancient village in Chashan Town, Dongguan, to experience making Chashan dolls and Kylin Dancing.
First made in the early years of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Chashan dolls have been well received by people in Dongguan and across the Pearl River Delta region. In Dongguan, families who have newborn baby boys will hold a ceremony during the Spring Festival of the second year. Chashan dolls have become a must for the occasion. Thanks to its profound meaning and delicate handmade artwork, it has become a typical souvenir for Dongguan.
