The International Fair of 21st Century Martime Silk Road will be held in Dongguan City of Guangdong Province from October 31st to November 2nd, 2014, announced the Provincial Government in a press conference in Guangzhou on October 15th.

The International Fair will exhibit the products from countries along the Martime Silk Road and from renowned Guangdong firms. The commercial federations and enterprises from 34 countries will attend the fair. Besides, 15 friendly organizations from 12 countries and 6 delegations of sister cities from 3 countries will also attend the International Fair.

About 87 percent of countries which locate along the Martime Silk Road will attend the International Fair. A total of 253,6 booths had been applied by various foreign enterprises, which exceeds 26.8 percent of the expectation. Fortune 500 companies, such as Samsung and LG will also attend the International Fair.

“The International Fair will deepen the economic cooperation between Guangdong and countries which locate along the Martime Silk Road.” Liu Xiaojie, the Deputy Director of the International Fair, said. “The fair seeks to expand new business opportunity in international market for Guangdong.”

It is said that two exhibition areas will be set for the special and competitive products from Guangdong and showing the achievement of cooperation have made between Guangdong and participating countries in tourism.

Besides, Guangdong seeks to establish airline cooperation with East Asian, South Asian, Middle East and African countries, especially South Korea, India, Saudi Arabi and Ethiobia during the International Fair. Compared with other similar international fair in China, it is the first time to define transportation and port logistics cooperation issues with other countries.

“The International Fair also focuses on promoting cross border E-commerce.” Liu said. “Related forums will be opened during the International Fair and discuss the trend of development of cross border E-commerce.”

“Finally, the International Fair provides a discussion platform for scholars to share their opinions on the construction of 21st Century Martime Silk Road.” Liu said. It is reported that senior leaders from different countries will also attend the seminar and discuss with attendees. (By Ken)
