Shilong Town is located in the northern part of Dongguan city, in the downstream of Dongjiang River. In the early Qing Dynasties, Shilong town was already an important town in the Lingnan area. It was until the late Qing Dynasty, construction of the Canton Railway had enhanced a prosperous business structure in Shilong, making it one of the four most famous towns in Guangdong, together with Guangzhou, Foshan and Shunde. It is named as the “Internationally Renowned Town for Living”, “Famous Historical and Cultural Town in China” and the “Weightlifting Town in China”.
