Wong Wai-yin

Born in Hong Kong, Wong Wai-yin began her piano studies at the Junior School of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 1998 with Hui Ling and since 2003, with Professor Gabriel Kwok.

Wong Wai-yin has won many prizes in international competitions, most recently the Second Prize at the 17th Hilton Head International Piano Competition in the USA (2012). She was the youngest First Prize Winner as well as winner of the Best Performance of Chopin Etudes in the 3rd Southern Highlands International Piano Competition in Australia (2011); winner of the "Guiomar Novaes Award" in the 2nd BNDES International Piano Competition of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil (2010); and the youngest Gold Medal winner (Intermediate Group) at the 7th International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz held in Ukraine (2007), where she is also winner of five special prizes including "Special Character and Creativity in Playing", "Best Performance with Orchestra" and "Best Performance of a Work by a Ukraine Composer".
