First made in the early Ming Dynasty, Chashan dolls were very popular in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties to the early Republic years. The famous “doll street” was located in Jiejing Road in the town of Chashan, where the handcraft workshops can be found everywhere. The dolls were printed from mud models, flat on the back, very colorful with fine details in the front. In 2007, Chashan Dolls were included in the first group of Dongguan non-material heritage.
