On 7th August 2018, the Ethiopian Economic and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Dongguan. Dongguan and Ethiopia will deepen economic and trade cooperation in textiles, leather, energy, pharmacy and electronic products industries.
 
Mr. Teferi Melesse Desta (Consul General at the Consulate General of Ethiopia in Guangzhou), Luo Weidong (Deputy Director of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau of Dongguan), Zhang Xuexian (Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Dongguan City Committee) and various Dongguan enterprise representatives attended the conference. This is Consul General Desta’s fourth visit to Dongguan, which shows the special attention the Consulate General of Ethiopia in Guangzhou pay to Dongguan.
