From now on you need to take care where you park your share bike. If you park your share bike in a no-parking area there will be a 5 RMB penalty.

On 14th August 2018, Dongguan government confirmed the 37 no-parking areas for Mobike. At the moment, the no parking areas only apply to Mobike’s, however by month end 10 no-parking areas will apply to Hellobike’s.

There are more than 700,000 share bikes in Dongguan. According to the latest governance scheme for share bikes in Dongguan, platforms will share a blacklist to block offending riders.

5 RMB fine for second violation

If you open the Mobike app today you will see some map areas surrounded with grey lines. These are the first 37 no-parking areas in Dongguan agreed upon by Mobike and related departments. This is also the first time Dongguan will use an “electronic fence” to regulate share bike parking.

The “electronic fence” is visible only on mobile phones and there is no physical sign at the actual locations. These areas are generally those through which you would not usually ride, but please ensure you do not park in error.

If you violate the regulations, a penalty will be payable. Should you lock the bike in a no-parking area you will immediately receive an advisory warning message, and on the second instance a 5 RMB fine will be deducted. The fine is raised regardless of location, simply on a second parking offence.

The purpose of setting no-parking areas is not for penalty income. If you accidentally locked your Mobike in a no-parking area, the withheld money will be returned to you. The Mobike company says this is to encourage people to collectively build a more organized and orderly parking environment.

Other share bikes to set no-parking areas from this month

Hellobike announced today that they will set an initial 10 no-parking areas in Dongguan this month, however the actual locations are still under discussion.

Hellobike have been improving the management of damaged, illegally occupied and densely stacked share bikes and linking users’ behaviours to their credits. “Users’ violations will affect their credits and then affect their ability to use our service. There are now almost 5,000 banned accounts in Dongguan.”

In May, Ofo revealed that they will improve vehicle management and user services through “electronic fencing” and refined operations.
