The 2019 Dongguan "Basketball Night" was held in Dongguan Cultural Centre on the evening of 6th May.

Dongguan, as the national basketball city, has witnessed a number of historical firsts. Dongguan has won both the CBA and WCBA championships, seen the Guangdong Dongguan Bank Team successfully crowned champions for the ninth time (a first ever in CBA history), and the Dongguan Xintongsheng Women's Basketball Team won the first WCBA championship trophy for Guangdong. In order to celebrate these historic events, and as a preheat for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Dongguan event, the 2019 Dongguan "Basketball Night" was held in Dongguan Cultural Centre on the evening of 6th May. The event was hosted by the Dongguan Culture, Broadcasting, Tourism & Sports Bureau. 

The 2019 Dongguan "Basketball Night" activities included three sections, the fans meeting, the leaders meeting with the team members, and the celebration party. The meeting and the party were open to the public when many fans and residents were able to interact closely with their favourite players. 

During the fans meeting, after the wonderful performances by professional bands and cheerleaders, players and coaches of each champion team met to shake hands with their fans. There were also interactive games, with 40 lucky fans divided into four teams to compete with different basketball stars to bounce the ball. The winning team was given autographed basketballs by the stars. In the lottery session, 200 commemorative T-shirts were distributed.

The celebration party was held at the Cultural Centre theatre. In order to allow more residents to enjoy in the event, multiple avenues were provided for people to watch the party such as on large outdoor screens, and on live TV and web broadcasts.
