It is reported by cankaoxiaoxi.com on May 23 that foreign media states that Dongguan must be mentioned when it comes to further development based on innovation. With the plan on innovative development, a state of lagging behind has become a thing of the past for Dongguan and it has emerged as a city for reference in terms of high-tech development.
According to the report of Prensa Latina on May 22, Dongguan is located in Guangdong Province and is home to thousands of high-tech enterprises, including smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei, OPPO and vivo.
It is reported that Dongguan used to be a region mainly dependent on agriculture. With the implementation of China’s reform and opening-up policy, however, Dongguan has witnessed rapid development and has emerged as one of the major destinations for foreign investment.
Companies in Dongguan produce various kinds of products such as juvenile products, robotic equipment, harbor infrastructure, optical lens and telecommunication equipment. These companies are full of vigor and enjoy advanced production and high efficiency.
The report pointed out that the innovative technologies they employ ensure energy conservation and environment friendliness. In 2018, Dongguan’s total imports and exports exceeded 1 trillion RMB, ranking the fifth in the country.
In addition, Dongguan boasts exclusively favorable geographical location. To its northwest lies Guangzhou where there are many institutes of higher education, universities and research institutes. Moreover, Hong Kong and Shenzhen to the south of Dongguan also keep generating an abundance of innovative things.
Experts believe that such geographical advantages will unleash Dongguan’s potential and allows it to emerge as another Silicon Valley and play a critical role in the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
It is suggested in the report that the key of developing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area consists in leveraging the distinct advantages of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, reinforcing its role in connecting China with other continents through the Belt and Road Initiative.
China hopes to facilitate circulation of personnel, capital, commodities and services in the southern areas through this endeavor. It aims to form great support for a development pattern featuring sustainable development for the country, opening-up and priority to domestic consumption, technological innovation and high-quality development.
