On the morning of 28th March, Dongguan and Mexico's four states jointly held a video conference on epidemic prevention. Dongguan medical experts shared their knowledge and practical experiences of treating patients infected with Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia and in combating epidemic situations.

Mr. Yu Bo (Consul General of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Tijuana Mexico), Directors of the Department of Health of Mexico's four states (Baja California, Chihuahua, Sonora, Baja California Sur), medical experts from these states, Xie Yuhua (Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Dongguan), Ye Xiangyang (Director of the Health Bureau of Dongguan, Zhang Qiaoli (Director of the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of Dongguan), Zhang Ping (leader of the city's expert group for COVID-19 prevention and treatment), and medical experts from Dongguan participated in the conference.

Recently, the COVID-19 epidemic is spreading throughout Mexico. During the critical period of epidemic prevention, the four states in northern Mexico hope to learn from Dongguan's experiences and approaches to epidemic prevention and control.

During the video conference that lasted nearly three hours, Ye Xiangyang introduced Dongguan's experiences and main anti-epidemic practices, while health officials from the four states in northern Mexico communicated their latest epidemic situations. Experts from both sides conducted a full exchange and discussed specific issues such as early prevention and treatment measures for Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia, drug application, epidemiology, and laboratory diagnosis. The experts from Dongguan presented a detailed case of their prevention efforts, treatments, clinical experiences, emergency planning, and results of the anti-epidemic strategy in Dongguan. They also answered specific questions raised by the Mexican side patiently and carefully.

Experts from Mexico said they have benefited greatly and will learn from Dongguan's successful experience to implement effective measures to curb the epidemic situation. They emphasized that this video conference will directly impact nearly 11 million people in the four states in northern Mexico and greatly strengthened their confidence in fighting the epidemic.

In the speeches, the directors of the four states' health departments in northern Mexico highly praised the Chinese government's great contribution to the global public health cause, and spoke positively of the Sino-Mexico anti-epidemic cooperation.
