On 2nd May the Dongguan Municipal Education Bureau announced that primary school students in grades 1 to 4, as well as students in secondary vocational schools and technical schools, will start the new school semester in waves from 18th May.  

After 18th May, Dongguan universities and colleges may arrange for students to return to campus in batches based on student characteristics, local epidemic control status and available medical supplies.

However, the school reopening dates for kindergartens and special education schools remains under discussion and undecided. Until kindergartens resume normal classes, all training organizations are banned from restarting offline services.

Previous plans were for graduating students of middle and high schools to return to classrooms on 27th April, followed by grades 1 and 2 of middle schools and high schools, as well as grades 5 and 6 of primary schools on 11th May.
