Shaoguan is rich in tourist attractions, like Danxia landforms, Yao and Hakka culture, as well as beautiful countryside scenery, attracting countless tourists every year. Recently, Shaoguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, Television, Tourism and Sports issued a "Plan for Dongguan-Shaoguan Tourism Year" (“the Plan”) and launched a series of preferential tourism activities for the citizens of Dongguan. The plan states that from 2021 to 2022, 17 A-level tourist attractions including Danxia Mountain will be open to Dongguan citizens free of charge (the list is at the end of the article). What’s more, they can also enjoy a 20% discount for activities in the Danxia Mountain Scenic Area (including rafting, boating on Xianglong Lake, cable car on Danxia Mountain, cruise ships of Jingjiang and other many more).

There will be a series of activities including 20 tourism festival activities, 11 Shaoguan tourism promotion activities, and 30 cultural activities held by the Shaoguan cultural team in Dongguan this year and next year. At the same time, more preferential policies and tourism programme for Dongguan citizens will be launched. It is very convenient for Dongguan people to travel ro Shaoguan, as not only is there a direct high-speed train from Dongguan to Shaoguan, but also several expressways, or maybe direct tour coaches in the further.

Dongguan citizens can also buy an annual Shaoguan Tourism Card for 200 yuan, entitling them same treatment as Shaoguan citizens. Within the year, the cardholders can visit Shaoguan scenic spots, as many times as they like, covering 22 scenic spots and 30 hot springs. However, it is important to note that some scenic spots can only be visited a certain number of times and except national holidays. The card can be used from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2022.
